SEIKO VISION SPECIALISTS

As an independent practice, we pride ourselves on quality and service. This is why we have chosen to be a Seiko Vision stockist, as they can offer us the quality and service we wish to pass on to you. We are now SEIKO VISION SPECIALISTS, yes we know, very fancy. Every dispenser who joins our small but mighty team is instantly trained by Seiko on their products so you can be sure that whoever you see has all the tools and knows how to fit you with the best product for you. Seiko are just as fussy as us with only a select group of independent practices they work with. We have worked with them for over a decade now and have never looked back on the decision.

The lens quality and technology available is constantly changing, with Seiko always ahead of the curve. The best way to work out what is best for you is to come and chat with one of the team on site or over the phone, but if you’d like a bit to read up on then here is a rough outline.

Types of lenses available

Single vision lenses

These are lenses that have a single prescription for the whole lens. Generally worn by those who need them all day for distance use, or for specific close up tasks:

  • Seiko Xceed – a digitally produced lens offering sharp vision over the whole lens, not just the centre. Fantastic peripheral vision, a selection of coatings available and generally the lens we recommend the most.
  • Seiko AZ – thin, lightweight double-aspheric giving comfortable vision with astigmatism and power correction. Great for higher prescriptions where thinnest is most desirable.
  • Seiko AS – minimises astigmatism, eliminates distortion and gives a larger field of view. Great for higher prescriptions where thinner is most desirable.

Progressive lenses

Also known as varifocals, are recommended when you need more than one prescription. These lenses give you clear vision no matter what distance you are focussing at. If you need a different prescription for each eye, as most people do, then Seiko Prime or Brilliance lenses give you precision vision with lenses tailored for your needs. With several to choose from our team will talk you through your lifestyle needs and work out the best options for you.

Computer and indoor lenses

If you work at a desk or computer all day, give your eyes the best clarity of vision by choosing specialist lenses. Seiko Indoor lenses are available in a variety of different finishes, each designed to have focussing zones that give you the best range of vision for your situation. We often dispense these for musicians, artists and tradespersons also who work at close but variable working distances. Fantastic for fine detail work without having to remove them to look around the table or room.

Tints and coatings

Polarised, photochromic, blue light filters, UV filters…the list goes on and on, and we can get them all. Seiko offer an array of tints and coatings. A few of our favourites are:

  • SRC-Road – this coating is fantastic at breaking down light from car headlights that causes glare. It’s aesthetically our favourite too.
  • Polarization – for the sharpest and best colour vision, polarised lenses are the best tint choice for a sunny day.
  • UV400 – a higher than standard UV coating, particularly good for light eyes and for our younger patients. UV400 protects your eyes from the more dangerous end of the UV spectrum and is available on nearly all products, clear or tinted.
