As an independent optician since 1985, here at Focalpoint we are committed to giving our patient’s a professional and personalised service. We are proud to be part of the Barnes community and hope to help keep the local high street alive by offering high-quality products and services tailored to each individual.

Our Services

We offer NHS and private eye examinations for all the family. We continue to invest in the latest equipment and technology as part of our commitment to do our best for our patients. By visiting us for regular check-ups we can give you peace of mind about your and your family’s eye health.

If you need new glasses, we’re here to help. We like to think we have a keen eye for fashion and trends, and each season we pick out a varied selection of designer frames with something to appeal to every personality. We also keep a lookout for unique products and carry a range of specialist frames and sports glasses. As an independent, we have the freedom to stock brands we believe in.

Our independent status makes a difference for contact lens patients too. Without ties to any manufacturers, we can advise on the most suitable product for you. A discussion about lifestyle, vision and expectations means we can get a clear picture of the best lenses for every individual.

Our Team

Shaan

Optometrist & Creative Lead

Shaan is our resident Optometrist. Not only is he an experienced Optometrist within the field, Shaan also expresses his creative side within the company, being Focalpoint’s Creative Lead. Shaan is responsible for designing the company’s new logo, has a creative lead in the company’s design projects such as the website and runs the company’s social media.

Shaan manages a range of patients with different needs and of different ages from 1 to 100 years old. He keeps up to date with the latest optical equipment which include Icare Tonometry, OCT assessments and a VR visual fields machine.

Shaan is more than just your everyday Optometrist, but this doesn’t take away from his desire to offer his patients the best care possible.

Gurminder

Dispensing & Contact Lens Optician

Gurminder is our expert Contact Lens fitter, and she won’t give up without a fight. If you think you can’t wear lenses, then think again. Her years of experience have seen her fit lenses to children as young as seven and adults as young as eighty, with a spectrum of visual requirements. You may want lenses to wear all the time, or you might dip in and out for sport or evenings out, but whatever it is, she’ll make it work.

Natasha

Dispensing Optician

Natasha is one of our fully fledged Dispensing Optician (beginning here as a humble student back in 2009). She thoroughly enjoys the nerdy side of optics and isn’t ashamed of it, so if lens and frame technology is your thing then look no further. When the breakthrough in Myopia management happened in 2020, Natasha was one of the first to ensure she was accredited and armed with the knowledge to help the next generation with their short-sightedness.

And if you’re in the market for sports eyewear then Natasha is the women for you, with a catalogue of knowledge stored in her brain she’ll make you a pro, whatever your age, whatever your sport.

Callie

Manager & Dispensing Optician

Callie came to Focalpoint straight from school. She started off as a young part-time receptionist and has now worked her way to becoming a fully qualified Dispensing Optician as well as practice Manager.

Callie’s organised and determined nature has allowed her to work her way up within the company to become someone who is adored and trusted by patients. Callie will always make sure the job is done correctly. Callie’s excellent know-how on frames and all the designers mean you’ll always leave looking chic and stylist.

Christina

Optical Assistant

Christina is our newest member of the team, having only started at the beginning of 2023. One thing is for sure, she has hit the ground running. Extremely professional and efficient, Christina has transitioned working into optics very smoothly.

Christina is the first point of call when coming into Focalpoint (she’s our front of house). Christina controls appointment bookings, contact lenses ordering and deals with initial patient queries or concerns. Christina is your go to person to help.

Amelia

Optical Assistant

Amelia has been with us longer than she cares to remember (it’s so long we’re not even sure how long it is). She pretty much knows everyone who comes in at the Roehampton practice and has an infectious smile so you can’t help but like her. Her gentle and calm way makes her the perfect candidate to put up with the rest of us, you can be rest assured you’re in safe hands.
